Abu Simbel
The archeological complex of Abu Simbel, situated in Nubia (Egypt), consists of two temples cut directly in stone during the reign of Pharaoh Ramses II. Complex, remarkable massive stone statues of Ramses and his wife, Nefertari, is part of the Nubian Monuments UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was built by Ramses II in the 13th century BC, to intimidate rivals nubieni and to commemorate the famous Battle of Kadesh.
