The Convent Court has its origins in the first half of the 13th century, when the Order of the Sword built a castle on the site of the Order. Rigans destroyed this castle in 1297. When the Order began the construction of a new residence in 1330 on the banks of the Daugava River, the former castle suffered the Convent of the Holy Spirit founded an orphanage. From him and then went the current name Convent Court. Since 1554 in the courtyard of the Convent were only shelters - widow's house and the shelter "gray sisters" (nuns). In addition to the shelters in the courtyard of the Convent were also houses and warehouses. The Convent Court was burned and rebuilt several times. In the early 18th century the building that has developed can be seen today. In the second half of the 20th century, the yard was abandoned. Only in 1994 - 1996's the reconstruction of the court started. Now in the courtyard of the Convent is a hotel, a museum of porcelain, antique shops and cafes. In the courtyard there are four inputs, which are locked at night.
