Arc de Triomphe or the Aleksandrov gates are in the park Viesturs. This is the only triumphal arch in Latvia. The author is ID Gottfried. The arch is made after the example of the Roman triumphal arch. It was built in 1817 at the end of Alexander Street (today Brivibas Street) near the air-bridge. The Arch was built in honor of the victory over Napoleon in 1812. The height of the arch is of 10.1 meters, the width is of 9.7 meters, the width of the carriageway arch is of 4.25 meters. The arch is decorated with four bronze medallions with symbols of peace and war, cornices and columns of the Ionic order of the sandstone. In 1904 with the construction of the railway viaduct, the arch was moved to the intersection of streets and Brivibas Shmerl. In 1936 it moved to its present location in the Viesturs park, as the arch interfered with the traffic.
