   Art History Museum (Kunsthistorisches Museum), hosted by a building on the Ring Boulevard which resembles a palace is one of the most important museums of art and decorative art in the world. The building is located is itself a tourist attraction.

 
   The museum is visited by over 600,000 people annually. The museum was built, like other museums in Vienna to house the huge collection of artifacts of the Habsburgs. Kunsthistorisches Museum was opened in 1891, the same year it was opened and Naturhistorisches Museum (Museum of Natural History), by Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria-Hungary. The two museums have similar exteriors and is one in front of the other Maria Theresa Square. Both buildings were built between 1872-1891.
 
   The museum collections are: Egypt and the Middle East, Greece and Ancient Rome, sculpture and decorative arts, numismatics collection and library. The building is spectacular and it was decorated with marble and gold ornaments or more pictures. The building has a dome above it to reach a height of 60 meters.
