Tampere is a small city that lies at about 100 North-West of Helsinki and it is a popular touristic attraction in Finland. Tampere rises up in a narrow strip of land situated between two lakes. Originaly the city was known for its heavy industries , and it is now transformed into a high-tech centre including two universities and many politechniques.
It is surprising to live in this atmosphere, when the mornings are dark in winter and the sunset is early in the afternoon, so everyone is tempted to do something to enjoy the time. The city of Tampere was founded in 1779 and stayed undeveloped until 1821, when Tar Alexander I of Russia, sustained the development of the city granting tax free importation of equipments and raw materials. Due to this fact the city had known its industrial expansion, and this privilege remained in the city until 1905.
