Danube Delta
Danube Delta is a very large area that stands under the waters, and it is located where the river Danube runs into the Black Sea. It has a lenght of about 5050 km, inluding 732 km that lies on the territory of Ukraine. The Danube Delta has formed during the quaternary age, having a shape of a equlateral triangle covering over 80 km on each side of the triangle. The Danube river is the longest river on the planet that goes in 10 countries, like: Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, Croatia, Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary. The river is divided into two regions: Tulcea Branch and Chilia Branch. Tulcea Branch is divided in two regions: Sulina Branch and St.Gheorghe Branch. Chilia Brach runs for a distance of about 104 km, marking the border with Ukraine, near the villages Palazu, Old Chilia and Periprava. Sulina Brach has a lenght of about 71 km, runs int he middle of Danube Delta, having a calm course, offering the possibility for the maritime ships to navigate along its distance. Saint Gheorghe Branch runs for a distance of about 112 km and when flows into the Black Sea it forms the Sacalin Islands, that represents for some people the second delta.
