Basilica Notre-Dame of Montreal is a real spectacular landmars that dates from 19th century. The design for this art started in 1824, for creating this basilica was chosen an Irish American architect James O’Donnel, who completed the Christ Churh in Manhattan. It took about 2 years to raise up the walls of the building and the façade up to the base of the towers. In 1827 the framework was completed and the interior of basilica was completed in 1829. This sacred place is designed in an Neo Ghotic style with incredible elements that make it a real unique masterpiece. It has a rectangular form with the tower coming out from the façade.
The basilica’s interior is decorated from rare wood decorated in gold leaf. The basilica holds a impressionant collection of works dating since 17th to 20th century.
The most attractive piece in the basilica is the main altar of the church designed by Victor Bourgeau, that is graved from linden wood.
