Golden Gate Park is the largest park in San Francisco covering 411 hectares. Its history start back in 1870 when William Hammond Hall was going to design the park. So he created a really attractive park with lakes, meadows and roads, then he designed a barrier to protect the park form the sea and planted thousands of trees that give a natural beauty to the park. Today it offers a great spot for run or for jogging, there also are golf spots.
The most attractive points in the park are located in the east side, including Japanese Tea Garden, that was founded to give the opportunity to see their lifestyle. This spectacular garden covers 5 acres and includes a teahouse, bridges, sculptures, ponds and a lot of Japanese plants. In the eastern side also you ca admire the Tulip Garden and The Rose Garden that have species of roses from early spring till later fall, that will fascinate you through their colours. The Conservatory of Flowers is a Victorian style greenhouse that hosts a big collection of tropical plants and flowers. The Golden Gate garden will amaze you for its magnificent attractions like Buffalo Paddock, the Steinhart Aquarium and the Strybing arboretum. The park offers as well areas for sport as tennis, fly-fishing, skating, handball, horseback riding.
One century back in time this park was considered the free Disneyland with a lot of attractions from animals to birds to wonderful places for reacreational activities. Here you can take your children for a walk because the park has a special area where is a big carousel and a climbing structure that your kids will appreciate as the best area in the town. The club is a famous area for birthday parties and barbeques, managed with tables and picnic facilities.
It is a very lovely park surrounded by spectacular views and gardens , it is the home for the culture, exceptional arts and exclusive exhibits that attracts million of visitors. Surrounded by all this greenery the park is fascinating for its glorious collection of plants and trees. On weekends the visitors can rent bicycles and rollerblades and enjoy the time walking in the park. So you can spend the free time in a very pleasant atmosphere , sometimes to assist to free concerts that are organized there. This huge park is the perfect place to spend a gorgeous day in this city.
