After a period of fifty years of calm returned to Berlin - Germany united as the capital and one of the largest cities of Europe. After the Second World War Berlin was a divided pawn, caught between East and West, metaphorically and practically divided by a wall. Town of North - East Germany lost the capital status even when the West German government fled to Bonn.
Today, the Cold War and memorable events of November 1989, when the Berlin Wall was broken even by those who separated for so long, begin to appear as distant memories, and now in Berlin, speaking only about the future.
Within the biggest architectural project in Europe after the Second World War Berlin was reborn in the forest of cranes to be broken heart of the city. The biggest project is Potsdam Platz, but the latest construction representative was in Reichctag. British architect Lord Foster reannoit German parliament with an impressive glass dome that symbolizes the new transparency in German politics, a politics of a nation that has nothing to hide and trying to distance itself from the ghosts of the past.
Besides these new buildings there is a city full of historical charm - from the old streets of East Berlin, which after 50 years are restored slowly to high-class architecture and Unter den Linden Museumsinsel and green lungs represented Tiergarten Park. A common confusion is between the tourists' Oranienstrasse "and" Oranienburger Strasse ", the first being a street in the Kreuzberg district, and the latter being a street in the Mitte district.
Tourism is growing, as visitors come to enjoy intoxicated mixture of old and new. High-level business is also growing, as parliamentary groups returning from Bonn, together with investments in many other parts of the country and across Europe. Key industries such as electronics, manufacturing and information technology reflect the hopes of a bright future for Berlin.
Contrary to the usual cliches about Germany, Berlin is a city with a relaxed attitude to one of the liveliest nightlife in Europe. All are found in Berlin today, from authentic beer halls and old Soviet era ghosts, to the bustle of stylish bars and nightclubs gay Latino.
