  Here at this pub, the famous Mojito cocktail from rum, mint, sugar and soda was invented, prepared here since its opening in 1942. It is also famous for the fact that it was a meeting place for intellectuals, artists and Havana's greatest personalities for a long time. Many artists have stepped here, from Pablo Neruda, Salvador Allende to Ernest Hemingway. Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Gabriela Mistral, Agustín Lara, Nat King Cole, Marlene Dietrich and Nicolás Guillén were regularly frequenting it as well. 

 

  The interior is cosy and warm, with different objects, frames and walls covered with signatures making it a special place. The menu includes boiled rice, black beans, pork shank, manioc, pig shank roasted in its juice, pork rinds and toasted fried plantains. The great local food, typical cigars and mojitos recount Cuba’s typical atmosphere.
