New York

New York is a city of superlatives. Besides being a world financial center, the island of Manhattan is dotted with world-renowned restaurants, architectural masterpieces and venerable art institutions that make New York the greatest cultural city in the world.

The phrase "If you succeed in New York, you will succeed anywhere else in the world" attracts visitors from around the world who come here searching for the American dream. New York has always been a city of the whole world, with its multi-cultural and multi-national inhabitants (who speak 80 different languages), a city full of energy that appears in countless movies and television programs.

With over 20,000 eclectic restaurants, 150 world-renowned museums and more than 10,000 stores, New York really has something to offer for everyone. New York City offers countless tourist attractions such as the Empire State Building opened in 1931 by President Hoover and the Statue of Liberty, a gift from France in honor of the friendship established during the French Revolution and had become a symbol of freedom and defense of immigrants arriving in the United States for a better life. Rockefeller Center is located in the heart of Manhattan and is known for its Christmas tree, ice rink, an observation center for almost 280 m high and several shopping centers. The most important museums here are: Museum of Modern Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, with over 2 million works, the American Museum of Natural History, the Museum of Medieval Art. Other attractive places are: Central Park, the Cathedral of St. Patrick, Public Library, Times Square.

Despite the unprecedented development of China and Arab countries, no city in the world can compare with New York when it comes to skyscrapers. With 35 towers that exceed the height of two hundred meters, the city will be "higher" with the completion of the construction of the new World Trade Center complex in the coming years. The Freedom Tower (Freedom Tower) will be located in the heart of the complex and will become the tallest building in the metropolis, with a height of 541 meters.

Apart from the non-stop urban turmoil, New York boasts a green oasis, which is the Central Park and Hudson Park. From here you can get to the elegant towns and beaches on Long Island. The epicenter of New York life remains to be the island of Manhattan, surrounded by four boroughs (Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island), each with its own characteristics and attractions.

New York City location at the confluence of the Hudson River, Long Island and the Atlantic Ocean reflects the city's importance as a port and disembarkation point for millions of immigrants in the U.S. The first European settlement in Manhattan was that of the Dutch in 1620. They named the city New Amsterdam. In 1664 the British came over and renamed it New York. The settlement rapidly flourished, expanding from south to north along the island. Mass immigration in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries led to the birth of distinct ethnic perimeters, the island of Manhattan rapidly becoming a place for all cultures in the world. This cultural diversity has contributed to the status of a multi-cultural capital.

Today, New York focuses on more recent history - the events of 11 September 2001.The consequences of the terrorist destruction of the tallest buildings in the city (a symbol of confidence and success) still permeate many aspects of life. The determination to overcome the worst terrorist attack is felt throughout the city, in the memorial plans of World Trade Center, completion of the huge Time Warner Center and the revitalization of neighborhoods in the proximity. However, this event had little or no influence on the appeal and vitality of the city. In fact, it seems that the world is more attracted to New York.
