Scotland is renowned as one of the most beautiful gardens in the world. The Garden of Cosmic Speculation is situated in the south-east of Scotland. It is spread over 30 acres in the Borders area of Scotland and it was created by the architectural critic and designer Charles Jencks's wife, Maggie. The Garden of Cosmic Speculation is described as one of the most original and most important gardens of the century. It is designed as a place to explore fundamental issues related to the universe.
The garden is full of ideas, associations and games that combines breathtaking beauty with a wonderful eccentricity. Jencks and landscape design were used to shed light on how we perceive the universe. Using a central theme of snaking, it created a landscape of "waves" with repeated use of a spiral around the garden. Throughout this area of the garden are found blue lakes, sculptures and pieces of land uniquely decorated.
