Glacier National Park is a beautiful park in the mountains of Montana, located in the far north to the US border with Canada. Despite the great distance from the main tourist centers, the park is visited by no means a few people - about two million visitors a year attracted by the wild, rugged mountains and cliffs scenery with lots of gorgeous lakes and rivers.

The park covers an area of 4,101 square meters right on the border with Canada, so there is often possible to meet tourists from this country too. It comprises two "branches" of the Rocky Mountains, about 130 lakes of various sizes. The largest and the most spectacular is Lake McDonald and Saint Mary's.

Earlier in the territory of Glacier were about 150 glaciers, but in the XX century, many of them have disappeared as a result of climate change. The region from the beginning of the XX century became a popular holiday destination. In 1910 it received the status of a national park.

Today, people come here mainly for hiking, as well as other kinds of outdoor activities, such as fishing. As for the natural inhabitants of Glacier, it is home to dangerous grizzly bears, wolverines, mountain goats, deer, caribou, and other representatives of the fauna of the Rocky Mountains. By the way,the park conducted tours on vintage red bus, known as the Red Jammers.
