It's actually a rainforest which is 110 million years old. The park hosts thousands of species of plants, trees more than 2,500 years old. Daintree  is a region of lush tropical forests, with white, stretching beaches, sleepy rivers and carefully preserved natural beauty. Naturalists’ paradise offers world natural wonders through its reefs and rain forests known for their wildlife and eco-tourism. Daintree National Park was included in the UNESCO heritage since 1988 in recognition of this territory of 1200 km and where the most endangered rare species live. Daintree is a national park in far north Queensland, Australia , at 1502 km (933 miles) north-west of Brisbane and 100 km (62 miles) north-west of Cairns . The park was founded in 1981. The Daintree park consists of two parts separated by the middle of a lived-in an agricultural area, which includes the town of Mossman and Daintree Village. All this area is a habitat for rare species of birds. The Daintree National Park is also the location of the famous "jumping rock" at Thornton Beach. This quiet beach is sacred to the aboriginal tribe Yalandzhi Cook (Kuku Yalanji). It was the one place where the women of the tribe conducted secret, magic rituals everyday. A strict taboo was imposed on the beach: people who take rocks from this beach might be damned.
