Trollstigen was officially opened in July 1936, after a long construction period that took 8 years. Some sectors of the road are cut and beautifully designed into the rockface, or else it is carefully founded on the natural stone foundations.
This narrow road has an inclination of about 9%, featuring many bends and open drops representing a truly challenge. To drive on this spectacular road you must be a professional and skilled driver. The vehicles that are over 12.4 metres long are not allowed on Trollstigen. Here you are discouraged to drive with a trailer or caravan. This road is liable to avalanche and sometimes it may be very dangerous. This road is a truly majestic destination for those who love the exciting adventures.
