VanDusen Botanical Garden is a very attractive destination in the city of Vancouver, situated very close to Downtown of the city. It situated on a land that in 1960 belonged to Canadian Pacific Railway, and was a gulf club. In 1970 a group of citizens decided to develop the space and to transform it in a botanical garden. In 1975 it was opening to the public as a very beautiful botanical garden, named VanDusen, in the honor of the W.J Vandusen, who sponsored the project. It covers over 55 acres of land with 11 acres of wildland, undeveloped.

The garden offers a great collection of plants that fascinate with their beauty all year -round. The climate of Vancouver allows to live there 7500 species of plants, some of them were brought from six continents. The plants were brought there to represents the flora of different ecosystems, to show their original beauty to the visitors. In the garden your eyes will be delighted not only by plants and trees but also by the sculptures that make the atmosphere more majestic. Some of the sculptures are brought from around the world, but some of them are made at the Vancouver International Stone Sculpture Symposium, since 1975. The design of the garden features a variety of colourful plants that impress through their smell and colour. The plants are designed so that it would offer a group of plants from the same greografic region. You can not find one part of the garden in the same way with another. Each part has its specific design and style.

The garden is open year-round offering the possibility to explore its spectacular beauty. There you can find exotic or rare flowers, from different measures. The garden is surrounded by benches, fountains, waterfalls that make the area a perfect place as a relaxing space or a gateway for escaping from the busy Vancouver. It is perfect for any ages, for couples or families who can spend the time in a pleasant atmosphere. The garden is the ideal house for a restaurants which provides the clients with pacific Northwestern cuisine that will impress everybody with its specialities, added to the pleasant atmosphere that opens the greenery of the garden.

VanDusen garden also provides the visitors with walk tours with a guide and with golf cart tours for senior or for people with disabilities. The gardens also boats a shop where the visitors can find books, seeds, plants and take some advices from the experts, who will do the best to help them.
