South Korea is a country located in Eastern Asia and occupies the second half of the Korean Peninsula. It is bound by China to the west, Japan to the east, and North Korea to the north. The capital city is Seoul.

Tourism in South Korea is mostly domestic and it is currently developing. However, it attracts few international tourists, as most tourists come from China, Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong. The peninsular country with four distinct seasons is proud of its beautiful beaches, mountains and fast rivers. There are a lot of old temples, royal palaces, statues, pagodas, museums, villages and traditions, some of them declared UNESCO world heritage sites.

The major tourist attractions in South Korea are: Seoul –the capital city, the Toksu Palace, Kyongbok Palace, Changdok Palace, Secret Garden, Seul Tower, Cheju Island, Sorok Mount; Gyeongju - open-air museum, Songnisan - national park, Seongnamsa – temple. Make sure to not miss the Cherry Blossom festival, preferred by most tourists who come to South Korea.

The most pleasant time to travel to South Korea is from September to November. Summer is the season to be avoided because of typhoons, monsoons, high temperatures, moist air and high prices.
