India is a country located in South Asia and it shares borders with Pakistan and the Arabian Sea to the west, Bhutan, China and Nepal to the north, Bangladesh, Burma, the Bay of Bengal to the east and the Indian Ocean to the south. India is the seventh-largest country in geographical terms and the second-most populous country in the world, with a population exceeding 1.2 billion people, thus being home to more than a sixth of world population.
India is a mystic land, provoking one’s imagination with its landscapes, traditions, life habits. Furthermore, being one of the greatest ancient civilizations, it boasts a great wealth of palaces, temples and monuments. Thus, India has a great tourism potential. However, although recording a slight growth, it does not exploit enough the immense natural and cultural potential of the Indian subcontinent. The transportation network, although huge and diverse, still remains poor. There prevails cultural-historical tourism, in regard to artifacts, historical and art monuments, followed by hunting tourism.
If you come to India, the must-see places are: Delhi, Mumbai, Agra -rich in monuments (palaces, temples, mosques, fortresses and other ancient buildings as well as colonial or modern buildings); Varanasi (many Hindu temples, among which the Golden Temple) and others.
India's climate is divided into three seasons: one hot, one rainy and one cooler. The best season to visit India is the cool one, which is from November to February.
