Often called the land of lakes and mountains, Republic of Macedonia is located in the Balkan Peninsula in south-eastern Europe. It is bordered by Serbia (and the disputed territory of Kosovo) to the north, Albania to the west, Greece and Bulgaria to the south east.
Macedonia is a country rich in picturesque landscapes and natural wonders. Tourist attractions are the mountains, forests, rivers, lakes, natural spas, medieval monasteries, Turkish bazaars and hospitable people. The best known tourist attractions are Lake Ohrid, Lake Prespa and Lake Dojran which are the most important sources of income in tourism industry.
