   The Bodhi Tree or Bo is a very large and very old Sacred Fig tree located in Bihar, India. It is considered that under this tree Siddhartha Gautama, later Buddha, achieved enlightenment, to become the founder of Buddhism. 250 years later after the enlightenment, Asoka, the Buddhist Emperor, founded the Mahabodhi Temple, right next to the sacred plant.
